| well, it has been brought to my attention that i need a new update. no one tells me when to update! but anyways.... here it is. since december, this semester has seemed to fly by. finals already start in 2 weeks!! yey!! in march i spent my spring break in michigan where i learned how to become a vet at the ApVMA symposium (American pre-veterinary medicine association). i learned how to do sutures (stitiches) and how to dart gun animals during my labs. my dart was one of two that actually stuck in the deer! mr bender would be proud. then, upon immediate arrival back from michigan i started my very first real job as a veterinary technician at gainesville animal hospital. i actually have a reason for wearing scrubs now lol. i get to give vaccines, run blood tests, assist with surgeries, take a lot of butt temperatures, and basically do anything the vet tells me. it's a lot of stuff that you really have to learn as you go along, but i'm loving it. in school you take classes all the time that you know you'll never use again, but for the first time i really feel like i'm doing what i want to do with the rest of my life. and it doesnt hurt that i get to play with little puppies during the down times. my summer schedule is gonna be hectic, but then one more year til i graduate!! yey!! come may 2nd i'll be moving out of the dorms forever and in august i'll move into my very first apartment!! everyone should come visit!! and paddy will be here too!!! ahhh i cant wait!! it feels like im finally "growing up"..... now if i can just shake this flu and pink eye the world would be perfect | | |
| oooh my goodness i could see my breath this morning!! it was a brisk 42 when i went to class. but the good news is i got to wear my new sweater that i got for 10 bucks over thanksgiving. there's nothing better than a sale, except when you expect a sale price and then the cashier rings up your purchase as even cheaper than you expected. last night was our sorority lil/big party. (the little sisters threw a party for the big sisters) go see pics on facebook!! it was 80's theme which i thought would be difficult to dress up for, but it ended up being fun. and i went to the dollar store to buy cheap gifts for my big, and ended up with a really good idea. i got her cheap 80's toys like pez, a slinky, stuff to make candy necklaces, silly putty.... she loved and i didnt look as cheap. this time next week i'll be the middle of initiation/activation activities and i'll be a full fledged sister. 2 finals next week and 3 the week after that and then im on my way to philly!!! (or actually new jersey) lets just get through it. oh! did i mention im going swimming with manatees on saturday?!? how fun is that? thank goodness they're giving us wet suits or i'd be freezing.... probably will anyways. cherie said ur supposed to pee in them when you get in the water... but that sounds kinda gross. we'll see. do they come with built in heaters?? that would be nice. well im off for now, gotta go play with the doggies at the animal shelter. i bet the cold weather's got them even more excited.... yey.... | | |
| i got to go home this weekend and that was sooo fun. i landed in houston and the greatest bubba ever brought his wonderful sister roses and then when we go to the car i opened the door and there was my cute puppy. terence braved the freeway with paddy in the passenger seat, no small task. then we got to spend real quality time together as we sat on the freeway for 2 hours. then all 4 of us ate dinner as a family for the first time in a while and watched a chick flick. dad had to work saturday so mom and i had mther daughter time at the renaissance festival, where we saw some girls that should have spent more time with their mothers.... my dad would never have let me out of the house wearin some of that stuff..... and then christopher came to see me!!! he took me out for dinner at the great place in the world, olive garden. and it was the woodlands' homecoming so we had to wait forever for a table cuz they were all decked out in prom dresses with their rented limos.... its only homecoming for crying out loud. but then we rented a movie and curled up on my couch like bums. then i had to fly back and i had a 4 hour layover in tampa and that was kinda not fun.... so now im off to bed early because even though i gained an hour friday and then gained another one saturday night, i lost one today and now im really tired and my body doesnt know what time it is. goodnight. | | |
| i went to the alachua county fair tonight. yes Florida people do have fairs. but their version was about 20 cows, an ostrich, 2 turkeys, and some chicken. not quite the same scale as the good ole Matagorda County Livestock Show and Rodeo, but i'll take what i can get. my only question is, who the heck raises ostriches in florida?? i bet its the only state where they can actually fly (when hurricanes come). speaking of which, we're gonna get a dump load of rain this weekend. woo hoo. guess its good that i have to write a 6-12 page paper to write this weekend anyways. in other news i am the proud new mama to a cockatiel named pepper. hes my foster baby from the gainesville bird rescue. he needs a better name tho. anyone got a good name for a grey bird with a yellow face and orange spots under his ears, lemme know. and even better news, i get to come home next weekend!!! i know the renfest is goin on and the a&m game, but if anyone knows of anything else lemme kno. but before that happens i have to get through my 2nd ochem test. keep me in ur prayers friday morning!!! (i did get a 92 on my last quiz tho!!! that was a shocker after the 30's and 60's.) everyone have a good weekend. | | |
